이재명 대통령은 31일 "투표에 적극 참여해 이 나라의 주인은 국민이라는 사실을, 권력은 어디를 향해야 하는지를, 주권자의 뜻이 어디에 있는지를 분명히 보여주시라"고 했습니다.

이 대통령은 그리스 철학자 플라톤의 '정치무관심의 대가는 최악의 저질들에게 지배당하는 것이다'라는 말을 인용해 "민주공화국에서 주권자의 침묵과 투표 포기는 국민을 속이고 사익을 위해 권력을 남용하며 나와 가족의 삶을 망치는 자들에게 기회를 주는 것"이라며 "선출된 공직자가 어떤 마음과 자세로 어떻게 하느냐에 따라 세상은 지옥이 될 수도, 천국이 될 수도 있다"고 강조했습니다.
이어 "투표의 힘은 생각보다 강하다. 선출된 그들이 내 삶을 풍요롭게 만드는 충직한 머슴이 될지, 세상을 파괴하고 국민에게 고통을 주는 악성 지배자가 될지는 주권자의 손에 달려 있다"고 했습니다.
